Most of the violins on this page are our own. FirstOctave student and intermediate models, sold as complete outfits with bow, hard case and rosin, in full 4/4 plus 3/4 and 1/2 sizes for younger players. Yamaha, Hofner and Granada round out the range for those who want a specific brand.

Because we make the student instruments ourselves, we stand behind them directly rather than reselling a box someone else packed. And here's the part that catches most first-time buyers out: a violin doesn't arrive playable. The bridge needs standing correctly, the pegs and strings need setting, and the soundpost needs checking, none of which a beginner can do, and all of which decide whether the thing sounds like music or a squeak.

Yes, every one. Our technicians fit the bridge, set the pegs and strings and check the soundpost before dispatch, so the violin arrives tuned and ready to play. This is the main difference between buying from us and buying a boxed kit from a marketplace, where setup is left entirely to you.

Are these violins genuine, with warranty?

Yes. Our FirstOctave violins are our own brand, made to our spec, and the Yamaha, Hofner and Granada instruments are genuine authorized stock with full manufacturer warranty. We don't sell grey-market or refurbished units unless clearly labelled as such.
